Ruurd Amelita

Ruurd Amelita has over five years of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities and helping individuals achieve greater independence, confidence, and fulfillment in their everyday lives. Growing up in California with Samoan roots, Ruurd was taught the importance of helping others and serving those who need support the most. Those values continue to guide him every day and have become the foundation of his work in human services. Before entering this field, Ruurd hoped to pursue a future in football. However, after an injury changed that path, he spent several years searching for a new purpose. He eventually found that purpose while working with adults with developmental disabilities and quickly realized that helping others grow and succeed was more than a job, it was his calling. The most rewarding part of the work for Ruurd is building meaningful relationships, teaching life skills, advocating for others, and helping individuals become more independent. He believes some of the greatest successes come from small steps taken every day. Watching individuals achieve goals, gain confidence, and reach milestones they once thought were out of reach continues to inspire and motivate him. Known for his patience, leadership, reliability, humor, and compassion, Ruurd strives to create an environment where every individual feels respected, supported, and valued. He believes trust, positivity, and genuine connection are the keys to helping people reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives.
